(THANK YOU ROY FOR GUTTING IT OUT!)
Tremendous performance from our Phightin' Phils as they pull out the gutty 4-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Some instant analysis from C-Square:
- That Giants lineup simply made Halladay work, if Halladay pitches 105 pitches; one would think he went 7 innings right? Wrong he only went 6. He didn't have command of his breaking ball but at the same time, he's looking tired.
- And with that: Charlie Manuel was smart not have him pitching on three days rest, and tonight showed why.
- If you can win a game with your leadoff hitter is struggling as much as Victorino is in this series, then it shows this team can pull through.
- Cody BLEEPING Ross is still killing this team with another RBI to keep his team in the game. The at-bat that Madson had against Ross in the 8th simply shows the blueprint to contain Ross: PITCH AWAY! He can't hit pitches away and that at-bat was a clear example of that.
- THANK YOU JAYSON! Amazingly the 1st HR hit by a Phil took place tonight and it came off the bat of guy that will be missed next season in Jayson Werth. Struggling to get an insurance run, Jayson took a great pitch and went opposite field for his 11th career home run. After that, it's safe to say we could breathe a sigh of relief.
- The true star of the night was the bullpen with 3 shutout innings to close the game out. With Madson striking out the side in the 8th and Lidge going 1-2-3 in the 9th to close it out was big considering how the 'Pen struggle in Game 4, and willed this team to come back to Philadelphia.
- And Phinally:
